Life Aboard the Train

On Via Rail Canada's Canadian, you will experience luxury, you will relax, eat delicious meals and you'll meet interesting new friends. For some people, this can be a very rewarding and life changing experience that you will only find on the train.

You will not be bored - far from it. There are activities in the Skyline car and plenty of interesting scenery that never seems to lose its appeal as you travel. As you explore the cars and enjoy coffee and snacks, you are then left with the great task of relaxing, unwinding and decompressing.

Our new friend Fred
There are plenty of interesting people and you're sure to make a friend or two. You will meet people from all walks of life. It was sure gratifying to see people from all over the world coming to enjoy the Canadian landscape as only Via Rail Canada can show you.

A typical day will find you waking up in your comfortable bed, taking a hot shower and making your way to breakfast in the dining car. You have a choice of three meals plus the chef's special. At breakfast, you make your lunch and supper reservations - there are three sittings for each meal. As you walk back through the train, you’ll find that you can't decide whether to nap, to read, to go to the dome cars and look around or to play games with a newfound friend.

The train will make a station stop, as it does in Capreol, Sioux Lookout, Winnipeg, Saskatoon (at night), Edmonton, Jasper, and Kamloops (at night). So you have a chance to wander a little and check out these interesting places where the train stops. Winnipeg and Jasper are particularly interesting.

Once you're finished your supper, you can take in a movie in the Skyline car or simply relax in the lounge area. When you're ready to retire, Via will rock you gently to sleep.

By the time the train reaches Vancouver, you're almost sad to leave but a new adventure awaits!
