Mitch Garvis drew his first breath in 1972, and has been hooked ever since. "I love life, and most of the pleasures that it has to offer, such as food, friends, and travel." Over the past few years Mitch has become the ad-hoc ski correspondent for Travel World, having done features on such destinations as:

• Park City, Utah
• Steamboat, Colorado
• Glacier Country, Montana (including The Big Mountain, Snowbowl, Black Tail, and Glacier National Park
• Killington, Vermont

Every place I've been has had something wonderful to offer. I like to compare in my mind the real differences between destinations. For example, comparing the sheer luxury of the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel in Colorado with its five-star facilities, gourmet dining, and champagne powder snow to the dichotomy of Glacier County, Montana with its rugged, rustic feel of the Lewis and Clark Trail, with untapped gems such as Blacktail and The Big Mountain. Both were wonderful trips, yet so different!

Hobbies & Interests: During the summer Mitch umpires Little League Baseball and softball. As well, Mitch has recently become an avid jogger, jogging between five and ten miles three times per week, either on the indoor track or with the world-famous YMHA-Wolf Pack around Montreal.

Most Memorable Trip:I love the Rocky Mountains, and there is no place in North America that can compete for skiers. Steamboat holds a special place for me since it was my first ski assignment, and to this day I have never had a better time skiing. Though I had skied as a kid in the Laurentiens north of Montreal, I had to relearn the sport. I have never seen better mountains or better snow, and I was amazed by the complete lack of lift lines.

Dream Trip:I want to follow the Crocodile Hunter around the Australian Outback as he wrestles crocs, and plays with the most deadly snakes in the world. Of course, I want to do this from a safe distance. I'd also like to see the Orient, and my life would be complete if I could ... Nah, definitely just Australia and the Orient. I also think I would like to get on a cruise and let the different destinations come to me.

Fears: None. Mitch will do just about anything, if he has not already done so.

Words to Live By: "Never criticize a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes ... because then if you do, you'll be a mile away ... and he'll be barefoot."

Favourite Food: Look at me, do I look like I say no to much food? I love steak, chicken, seafood, sushi (NOBODY eats seaweed, Willem!), and most meat products. My most memorable meal was at The Cabin in the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel - I ordered a buffalo steak that was the most delectable meat I have ever had, and the chef decided to surprise the table by sending one of every salad, appetizer, desert, and drink to the table. (You thought I was going to say loof, didn't you?)
