I'm a New York City native, graduate of New York
University with a bachelor of arts degree. I also
have a master's degree in liberal studies from New
York City's New School for Social Research. I began
my professional life as a radio disk jockey in the
fifties, working on stations in Michigan and New
York
from 1955-1966 and joined Travel Weekly in May 1966
as a reporter (over 30 years
and counting). I became
managing editor in 1967 and editor in chief in 1972.
I remained in that post until 1997 when I became
editorial
director for the periodicals group of our company,
now known as Cahners Travel Group. I've been fortunate
to have traveled extensively.
Favorite Cities:
are London and Paris and I have unfulfilled aspirations
to see cities I've missed including Venice and Moscow.
Most fascinating:
most fascinating places I've seen are Jerusalem, Beijing
and Rio de Janeiro.
My avocations:
include reading avidly (currently on a Somerset Maugham
kick), theater, film and music.
